Ploho + Mala Herba

7. Oktober 2019, 20:00 - 23:30

Generation noir presents:

Ploho – one of the most prominent bands of the Russian underground scene and of the so-called „new wave of Russian music“. During several years of existence, they recorded 3 albums, several EPs and more than 10 singles, supported by touring more than 30 cities in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania, Latvia, Poland and Czech. The music combines early post-punk, new wave and Russian rock circa late 1980s-early 1990s. The band’s cold and depressive sound that is pulsating and danceable at the same time won’t leave anyone indifferent. First time in Vienna!

Mala Herba is a solo project of a sound artist and queer music activist Zosia HoÅ‚ubowska. Based on traditional music, magic and demonology of Eastern Europe, Mala Herba explores queerness and sex-positivity. Powerful, witchy vocals are weaved into hypnotic beats, cold base lines and romantic synthesizer melodies. There’s something gothic and dramatic to it but nevertheless „this“ makes you dance. Sometimes the melody cracks, the voice becomes a magic spell and the song transforms into a noise soundscape. But then the arppegio kicks back in and your bones resonate with the italo-disco inspired bass and rhythm.
Always a pleasure having this unique artist on the bill. One of the two chances to see Mala Herba this year live here in a DIY-Setting. Debut Album will be out 2020.
