ETAT is a netlabel from Vienna with a focus on dissociative, psychoacoustic, computer music, founded by Stefan Juster in 2020.

Superpang was launched by Rome native Christian di Vito in 2020 and quickly gained momentum with a steady stream of releases from across the experimental music spectrum, making no effort to differentiate between DIY noisemakers, contemporary classical ensembles, free jazz blowers, and post-techno explorers.

Jasmine Guffond is an artist and composer working at the interface of social, political and technical infrastructures. Her practice spans live performance, recording, sound installation and custom made browser plug-in. Through the sonification of data she addresses the potential for sound to engage with contemporary political questions. Recent projects employed digital technologies, sonification and the aesthetisation of data as a means of fostering discussion around contemporary surveillance technologies as well as producing experimental audio works. Jasmine Guffond has released solo albums on Sonic Pieces (2015, 2017), Karl Records (2018), and Editions Mego (2020) labels to critical acclaim. https://jasmineguffond.bandcamp.com/album/microphone-permission

RM Francis is an artist based in Seattle working with computer-generated sound and language via recording, installation, and performance. His practice foregrounds computation-based compositional strategies, focusing on methods that exploit discrepancies between human and artificial auditory systems. His oeuvre spans multimedia work incorporating sound, video, performance, and chocolate (Hyperplastic Other, 2017), investigations of historical computer synthesis methods (A Taxonomy of Guffaws, 2020), procedural text works for a chorus of synthetic voices (Every Single Person Has Some Muscle, 2022), and hallucinatory duets between dictation apps and deep learning networks (pedimos un mensaje, 2023). https://rmfrancis.bandcamp.com/

Jonas Gruska studied at the Institute of Sonology in The Hague and at Music Academy in Cracow. His main focus is chaotic and polymetric rhythms, unconventional tunings, exploration of psychoacoustic properties of sound and field recording. He is the creator of Elektrosluch – electromagnetic listening device. In 2011 he started label and instrument manufacturing company LOM focused on East/Central European experimental art and music. Since 2013 he is organizing ZVUK, an outdoor festival dedicated to experimental music. In 2018 he opened LOM space, place for contemporary sound in Bratislava. In 2019 he established bioLOM/mykoLOM platform dealing with amateur mycology, lichenology and broader fungal perspectives. https://jonasgruska.bandcamp.com/album/aburina
Robert Schwarz is a sound artist from Vienna with a background in computer music, sound studies and architecture. His current work explores the acoustic dimensions of insects, focusing in particular on spatio-temporal patterns resulting from the coupling of swarm behaviour and time synchronisation. In his compositions, synthetic sounds interact with nature recordings, following their internal logic while creating new and abstract entities. He has released albums on ETAT, ALTER, Gruenrekorder and his next LP will be out on SUPERPANG in October 2024. He is co-founder and curator of “PARKEN” and co-creator of the works “Los Bar”, “Strookoffer”, “Laxbar” and “Relax”, a series of walk-in sculptures in Los Angeles, Brussels and Vienna. https://soundcloud.com/schwarz
Haskii is a Vienna-based architectural designer, photographer and artist. In her design practice, she employs dynamic forms to create immersive spaces and in contrast, on smaller scales, seeks out subtle gestures whilst aiming towards simplified architectonic volumes. Through her artistic practice, she utilises analogue and generative processes to create illustrations. These exercises spawned the aesthetic identity of the Viennese music label ETAT. Raised in the early 2000s by the Belgrade club scene, music was from an early age an integral part of her identity. Over time, her interests transformed and after tapping into various genres, her main focus currently lies in early electroacoustic and acousmatic sounds as well as field recordings. https://soundcloud.com/haskii
Jung An Tagen invites us to reflect on the diffuse but persistent term “experimental” not as deviation from aesthetic orthodoxy, but as the design and implementation of compositional systems that offer unpredictable results; “electronic” as an annulment of the previous instrumental tradition, and as a simultaneous reversion towards aesthetic openness; as the fragmentation of a theoretical or mythical musical syntax by obsessive repetition, sequential motivic mutations, aleatoric arrays, pareidolic illusions and moiré effects; “electronic” as the ultimate split, dehumanisation, mechanic strangeness. In 2020 Jung founded the netlabel label ETAT.xyz. Setting aside any hint of expressionist gestures, one is left with form and abstract sound, emotional alienation: “dissociative, psychoacoustic, computer music”. https://www.jungantagen.xyz/
EVOL: Stephen Sharp and Roc Jiménez de Cisneros like to deform musical objects. Fuelled by analogies about bending and stretching to resynthesise and liquify their favourite dance music tropes, their work is a love letter to techno culture written from a different continuum. Equally austere and maximalist, their music is a blend of bouncy patterns and hyper-deformed acid lines. EVOL records have been published on labels such as Diagonal, iDEAL, Superpang, Presto!?, Editions Mego, or their very own Alku. http://vivapunani.org/
Isabella Forciniti, a sound artist from Italy based in Vienna, is deeply entrenched in a diverse range of artistic pursuits, embracing performance, composition, research, and innovation. Her music and live performances traverse the spectrum that stretches from meticulously crafted arrangements to impromptu improvisation. Throughout this artistic journey, she adroitly wields a toolkit of fragmented yet rhythmically captivating beats, intricate manipulations of spatial perceptions, and intriguing psychoacoustic phenomena. Her academic background encompasses a degree in communication sciences, she completed ELAK at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. And she graduated with a master’s degree in computer music and composition from the Anton Bruckner Private University. https://isabella.klingt.org/
ZAK | zentrum für antidisziplinaere kunst was founded in 2020 as an association with the aim of facilitating collaborations in various contexts. The current artistic directors are Desi Bonato, Aurelia van Kempen, Jessica Comis and Eva Sommer. In 2021 they won the Theater Drachengasse competition for young talent with their production UFO_ultra fett original. In 2022, ZAK temporarily appropriates the former Téte-A-Téte nightclub as a meeting place, research facility, production and exhibition space. ZAK defines itself through encounters, interactions, relationships and knowledge transfer. The way ZAK works is as diverse as its members. ZAK sees its productions as holistic worlds that neither differentiate nor judge between fiction and reality. http://www.antidisziplinaer.com/
Christian Schröder lives and works as an artist and composer in Vienna. His solo and collaborative works have been exhibited and performed at Fonoteca Nacional MXC, Casa del lago MXC, Pioneer Works NYC, Musikverein Wien/Wien Modern, Impulstanzfestival Wien, Venice Architecture Biennale, Spatial Sound Institute Budapest, among others. In various media he explores the limits of the audible, between rhythm and noise, harmony and chaos. https://ckonrad.net/
Andrea Ida doesn’t see herself as a DJ, but she is one. At the moment she is working on some graphic projects, and musically speaking on not always playing music too quietly. In mid-July she will start her residency at @radio.temponaopara based in Amsterdam, where she will share music that shapes and enlightens her existence, but also give guests the opportunity to express themselves in all possible ways. She returns to the Zacherlfabrik on Sunday, and you can expect excursions into abstract ambient, noisy minimal wave, late krautrock, early 90s electronics and weird dub. Oh yes, and she still loves flutes. https://soundcloud.com/ae-ida
Friedl Pichler is the secret project of two Vienna-based DJs with a dedicated passion for undiscovered or forgotten recordings from various local subcultures. In particular, subcultures against their will, as most of the protagonists tend to adopt the attitude of pop stars. Friedl Pichlers selection, exclusively 7 inches from the 70s and 80s is united by a fascination for the strange, the imperfect, the hilarious, all of which share a naive devotion and a subtle critique of the conditions of their time. Their songs speak tenderly of failure, the failure of love, of life or of music itself. None of the protagonists ever became known to a wider audience, and in most cases these are their only publications. Friedl Pichler share their selection on the Youtube channel of the same name, a true rarity in entertainment and a media archival treasure. https://www.youtube.com/@FriedlPichler
