Milla/Cajado/Takara · Cossio/Myburgh

26. April 2023, 19:00 - 23:00

Milla/Cajado/Takara is a music ensemble formed by Jordina Milla, Vinicius Cajado and Mauricio Takara in the year of 2022. With utterly artistic ethos, the trio flies over all borders of contemporary music to finally submerge itself in sound, creating a musical genre-less thrilling experience. Its Music mixes improvisatory art with contemporary music, flirts with south American rhythms and post rock beats to compose its way with lightning fast reaction speed from its three pillars, elegantly provoking the listeners and immersing them in a sonic void.

Mauricio Takara has been involved with music production in Brazil since the mid-90s, from playing drums with local hardcore bands and writing music for films, to experimenting with tape recorders, synthesizers and making music by himself. He currently plays drums with the instrumental rock sextet HURTMOLD, with SÃO PAULO UNDERGROUND (along Chicago ́s Rob Mazurek) and with the trio RAKTA, besides recording under „m.takara“ and performing solo sets around the world in which he explores the possibilities of the drum kit being assembled with electronics and other instruments, creating a more melodic and textural approach to rhythmic compositions and improvisations. In the past 15 years he ́s played with a wide range of artists from different styles and nationalities such as Joe Lally (Fugazi), Nana Vasconcelos, Damo Suzuki (Can), Yusef Lateef, Prefuse 73, Makoto Kawabata, Jeff Parker (Tortoise), Matana Roberts, Marcelo Camelo (Los Hermanos), Pharoah Sanders, Archie Shepp, Mia Doi Todd, etc..

Eduardo Cossio (amplified zithers, harmonica & electronics) & Josten Myburgh (alto saxophone & electronics) form an improvised duo based in Boorloo (Perth, Western Australia). Two of the most active improvisers and organisers in the local scene, they make striking music which explores the superimposition of multiple tuning systems in timbrally complex settings, and the dynamic between drone and pointillist textures. Their music is grounded in melody and harmony with incidental and emergent logics and a high level of textural detail and layering. In 2023 they will release and tour their first album on Boorloo label Tone List.

Eduardo Cossio is a Peruvian-Australian composer and improviser.
He works with prepared zithers, electronics, and amplified objects in an improvised musical context. His work foregrounds spontaneity, collaboration, and the development of a musical language whereby instruments are treated as malleable objects open to new configurations.
Eduardo maintains collaborations with leading West Australian improvisers including Ross Bolleter, Josten Myburgh, Dan O’Connor, Michael Terren, and Sage Pbbbt. He has also collaborated with Australian and international artists such as Jim Denley [NSW], Gabriella Smart [SA] Julia Drouhin [TAS], Laura Altman [NSW], and Annette Krebs [GER].
He is the founder and organiser of Outcome Unknown an experimental music series and is program coordinator of Difficult Listening on RTRFM 92.1. Eduardo has received the Western Australian Music Industry Award for experimental music on several occasions, and was nominated Industry Representative of the Year in 2018.
