LB Marszalek [Safe Ground Recordings, Brussels]

LB Marszalek is an ambient musician and sound artist hailing from the tranquil landscapes of West-Southern France, now calling Brussels home. His creative inspiration is drawn from the intricate tapestry of modern societies and the enchanting wonders of nature. Through his artistry, he weaves narrative worlds using layers of soundscapes and field recordings captured during his daily life. A resident of Belgian Kiosk Radio as well as Movement Radio in Athens, where he invites international guests such as Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith, Lucy Liyou, Gia Margaret or Crystallmess to share the desk in the frame of quiet and deep musical evenings. He is also the founder of Safe Ground Recordings, a record label with which he releases compilations starring renowned ambient producers (Claire Rousay, Laurie Spiegel, KMRU, Abul Mogard and more) for social purpose. Safe Ground compilations received international recognition, being reviewed by media such as The Wire and awarded “Album of the Day” by Bandcamp.
LB Marszalek’s last effort, “Homeostatic Loops” (2022), released on City Tracks, is a 3-pieces ambient composition where noisy synth waves intersect with bells and cat purrs. Even if he performed at prestigious venues and festivals (Bozar, Dour, Nuits sonores, Le Sucre…) his live performances are as rare as immersive.

Ryvers [sama recordings, Vienna]

Austrian musician Patrick Schwarz aka Ryvers debuts on viennese label sama recordings with his first self-recorded full length album that oscillates around the genres of Shoegaze, Dreampop and Experimental:
Shoegaze created a preference for guitar effects, loops and decayed vocals. Dreampop inspired the melancholy and an athmospherical sound tapestry. Experimental music influenced the love for improvisation, unconventional song structures, the use of field recordings and reveling in extended instrumental parts.

His artistic claim is not to create classic songs with strict sequences and refrains to sing along, but rather to produce a free, liquid state similar to a river in which listeners can immerse themselves.

The release title „MÆANDER“ best sums up what all songs have in common: each one accumulates to a dense mass of sound that – sometimes calm, sometimes agitated, but always constant – flows along. The starting point of this project is a looping station. Fascinated by the power of monotony and minimalism, Ryvers lays down he foundation of his songs with simple beats and a basic theme (a guitar loop) which is then overlaid with chords and melodies. Reverb-drenched vocals coexist with carefully constructed soundscapes. The superimposed layers result in an intense and tightly woven wall of sound and let the audience drift away. The ever-repeating framework prevents chaos and confusion from arising and ensures that, despite everything, a meditative calm and a familiar element remains in Ryvers‘ songs.
