Lathe of Heaven, Rolltreppe, Kalte Hand, Neon Lies

23. Februar, 20:00

Formed in 2021, Brooklyn-based Lathe of Heaven delivers a powerful take on Post-Punk and New-Wave, pushing the boundaries of both genres into an untouched realm of sonic abstraction. With melodic riffs and rhythms and Science Fiction lyrics, LoH carefully position themselves in the no-mans-land that exists between beauty and dissonance, offering a unique sound as reminiscent of Finnish Post-Punkers Musta Paraati as they are to pop-pioneers A Flock of Seagulls. Though Lathe of Heaven features members of many noteworthy Brooklyn-based projects including People’s Temple, Porvenir Oscuro, Pawns, Android, Hustler and more, this roster of past and alternate musical endeavors exposes a diverse range of genre and skill sets that can only be understood as a departure from such influences, exploring a sound entirely of its own.
Maybe our fav local band? I mean come on, who doesn’t love them. It first shows after their break, finally at a noir happening!
Fast propulsive punk with hooks for days, these guys really nail the delicate balance of taking a familiar sound and putting their own unique spin on it, in the end sounding like nothing but themselves. At the first listen you might just scratch the surface of these sometimes surprisingly diverse songs, as you go deeper into layer after layer with every spin of it.
KALTE HAND (Augsburg)
Something between eggy & chainy punk with a clear focus on the early 80‘s, in a modern setting. You might as well call it: Gloomy Post-D-Punk, Wohlstandswave or
Pochierpunk. The only thing we know is that it’s great to have this amazing trio from Augsburg opening the night!
Aftershowparty with…NEON LIES (Zagreb)
„The energy of the minimal beat of a drum machine, the icy kiss of the keyboard, a simple and hermetic melody, the detached but at the same time romantic and confused vocal, the irrepressible desire to dance and forget for a while the misery of modern life, the infinite capacity to create personal hymns, the invitation to inhabit the night and lose yourself in it, with or without love and to join other lonely people in the repetitive movement of your feet, your body and your head. To be outside yourself for a while.
(Maximum Rock’n’Roll)
you know the drill:
Venster99: Limited capacity, no pre-sale, no bullshit.
20:30 first band sharp!
